Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

IPM is an effective pest management approach which integrates many treatment tactics into a logical program to provide long-term solutions to pest problems, while keeping the environment in mind. An IPM approach is not just dependent on one or two tactics to solve a pest management problem, but relies on the interactions of the many components to form a complete program. Some components of IPM include:

  • Education
  • Inspection
  • Pest exclusion
  • Pest trapping
  • Sanitation
  • Physical control
  • Pesticide applications
  • Mechanical control
  • Quality control
  • Documentation
