McCoy and Bauerkemper visited Capitol Hill during Legislative Day, an annual event coordinated by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) that brings together pest management professionals and their legislators to talk about critical industry related issues. Wil-Kil Pest Control is a member of NPMA, which represents the $7.4B pest management industry on legislative and regulatory initiatives at the federal and state levels.

During the meeting with Congressman Sensenbrenner and Senator Ron Johnson’s staff, McCoy and Bauerkemper discussed the importance of educating the public on Zika-carrying mosquitoes and urged Congressional action to change the proposed overtime rule and to eliminate NPDES permits for lawful pesticide applications.

“Discussing issues face-to-face with federal lawmakers is the most effective form of advocacy because it is an opportunity for us to provide context to issues that affect the pest management industry in Wisconsin,” said McCoy. “This meeting allowed us a chance to begin an impactful dialogue and build relationships with our elected officials in Washington.”

Larry Bloechl, IPM Sales and Service Specialist at Wil-Kil Pest Control, was also present at Legislative Day as he was recognized at the event for being named the 2015 Residential Technician of the Year by Pest Control Technology (PCT) magazine.
