EnviroGuard Takes Care Of Ants In Wisconsin Homes

May 25th, 2015|Ants, Pest Prevention|

Ants, even though they are not considered to be dangerous, disease-transmitting insects, are tenacious pests that relentlessly continue to be a nuisance to Wisconsin homeowners. While carpenter ants are capable of invoking damage to the wooden components of the house and must be dealt with, most other ants are simply labeled as nuisances. Even then, no one likes the idea of ants crawling around on counter tops and inside cupboards and cabinets. Unless they are eradicated, these nuisance ants will get inside containers and contaminate food.

For All Those Mess Makers

February 20th, 2015|Pest Prevention|

Seen here in its natural habitat, the North American mess maker is a creature that can thrive in the stickiest of environments. Not easily taken to living in captivity, the mess maker can be found getting into protected areas in search of items of a confectionery nature. When caught, this little critter uses a self-defense mechanism to subdue predatory disciplinarians with its adorable curls and wide eyes. Though not technically considered a pest, the North American mess maker can set the conditions for other pest creatures to infest your home. Here are some tips for minimizing the damage.

Do Mice Really Spread Lice?

January 7th, 2015|Pest Prevention, Rodents|

There is a common misconception that lice begin in the homes of dirty people, and that we can protect ourselves by not sharing hats, scarves, and other clothing that touch near the head. Though these precautions can help prevent the spread of lice, it is patently absurd to believe that lice spontaneously appear on the heads of dirty people. They are insects. Like all insects, the only way they are going to get into your hair, is by crawling or flying into it. Since they don't fly, the most common way you'll get lice is by the above ways. You put on a hat that someone with lice wore, and those lice mosey on into your hair. But there is a grander picture I want you to see. A topic that usually gets skirted over when you read anything about lice. Namely, where do lice come from?

Exclusion Tips To Seal Out Overwintering Pests

November 20th, 2014|Fall Pests, Hibernating insect control, Pest Prevention, Wildlife control|

Exclusion. Have you heard the term? Do you know what it means? Well, the golden age of Pesticides is behind us. Pest companies no longer come to your house and douse everything--including your bed--in a heavy coating of pesticides. Though this method was highly effective at killing bugs, it did a pretty good job of making humans sick too. In this modern day, pest control companies rely on a worldwide database of pest information to "exclude" pests from your home. Think of exclusion as a sort of cold shoulder. If we were talking about a human pest, exclusion would come in the form of, perhaps, not answering the door, not returning a phone call, or putting a lock on the door.

How To Tell If There Are Mice In Your Home

October 6th, 2014|Pest Prevention, Rodents|

You will hardly ever see a mouse. They are timid, nocturnal creatures. If it's crawling around your kitchen, it's doing it under the cover of night. And if it hears you coming, it is going to get out of dodge before you flip those lights on. For this reason, mice are a threat to many families. If you don't know they are in your home, you don't realize that they are contaminating your food supply and leaving a variety of bacteria and decay on your dishes. A wild mouse is not something you want in your home. It brings the rot from that dumpster down the street right into your silverware drawer.
